I know this is a very difficult question to answer, but for someone who has no ram oc experience would like to ask. How hard is it to OC this model of ram https://www.gskill.com/product/165/166/1...B-(2x16GB) to cl16 with maybe loosened timings or with the same timings. I could be able to buy this affordably from a stores outlet since someone returned it. Mobo: Rog Strix Z-390 CPU: i9-9900k Current RAM: Kingston HyperX 3200mhz CL18 -22-22-42 4x8GB
3600MHz CL17 bins typically correspond to Samsung B dies, making the transition to 3600MHz CL14-15-15-28 straightforward by raising the DRAM voltage to 1.5V and concluding. However, 17-19-19-39 is an unusual bin and doesn't reliably indicate a Samsung B die because of its higher tRCD value. If it resembles a Samsung C die or Hynix DJR, achieving CL16 might not be feasible.
That burner setup for IC 3600 C17 seems quite unusual, more like a mismatched bin compared to 3600 C16. I’d hope it behaves like the expected Hynix DJR model, but I’m not sure if it’s even a standard bin or just an older one. It makes sense to check if the usual data you’d see on 3600 C16 would show up here too, since 3600 C18 should support the same data.
That's a dual rank B-Die kit. It has looser timings because it's dual ranked Dimms. Likely do pretty much whatever you need, on the Intel system aiming for 4000mhz at any Cas latency c17 or tighter would be ideal.
I was examining this particular product because it's affordable, as it was a customer return from the outlet.
Oh it's b-die for sure. The 4000mhz on you just linked is not a B-die kit. B-Die timings by average. 3600-3800 CL 16 and CL 17 3800-4267 CL 17 and CL 19 The rest of the primaries tell the final story. No other Die make uses CL17 or CL19 at these frequencies. So 4000mhz CL17-19-19- 39 is B-Die 4000mhz+ CL19-19-19- 39 is B-Die. And this is a +/- 200mhz advertised frequency. My Kit is EOL. So is the one in the link below. 4267mhz, I use this kit with my 8700K. When this kit released F4-4266C19-8GTZKW - It cost 350$ US. Now at 150$, different part number and different color. The burner will display the actual specs. Just browse the web for profiles or try higher quality kits as references, such as GSKILL Tridentz Royal 4000 14-15-15-35. Since it's dual rank, start in gear 1 at the highest possible frequency (max VCCSA ~1.45V) and keep timing tight. The die is very heavy on the IMC, so expect stable performance. For now, stay under 1.7V for the IMC; above that, a fan might be needed due to heat. Do you have this kit or are you thinking about purchasing it? It sounds like a risky move—most people use it just for bragging (laughs). You might still fit it in if the chip is from a reputable manufacturer. There are better options available, like 3200 C14 or 4400 C19, which should perform better than older models such as 3600 C17. If you find a good used deal, it could work.
I was thinking about it a lot. I’m not sure if the upgrade is worth it, but if I can get the kit at a good price and learn a bit about RAM speeds, it would be really nice.
