I received the Ryzen 7 7800X3D yesterday and I’m noticing odd behavior. The reported speed is fluctuating between 1000MHz and 5000MHz, which is concerning. I’m trying to push it to a stable 5GHz, similar to what I had with the Intel i7 8700K. Additionally, the temperatures keep changing between 37°C and 50°C, which is quite unstable.

The CPU adjusts its speed to conserve energy when demand is low. It increases the frequency only when needed, ensuring consistent performance without worrying about power loss.

We achieved performance gains a decade ago or during benchmark tests. On modern systems, clocks automatically adjust up and down. You don’t need this control. Focus on temperature management. To verify proper operation, run a single Cinebench R23 test and aim for scores between 18k–19k. For modern Ryzen processors, enable PBO, use Boost Override up to +200Mhz, and apply Curve Optimizer undervolting to balance performance and heat. Real improvements in gaming are limited, but experimenting is enjoyable. Always adjust settings through the BIOS, not Ryzen Master.
