OC Ryzen 5 3600 safe as long as no over voltage?
OC Ryzen 5 3600 safe as long as no over voltage?
It's actually secure, though avoid doing it regularly. My friend's computer has been damaged from constant overclocking over the past year.
You ask about "OC everyday." It likely refers to the phrase "On Call Every Day," which means being available or working every single day.
That’s likely the most confusing way I’ve ever heard about overclocking. Still, there are several aspects of overclocking that can influence a CPU or GPU’s lifespan—like heat, voltage stability, and workload. If you’re aiming for the longest life from your CPU (which usually lasts 5 to 8 years before the chips start failing), stick with stock settings and keep things cool.
If undervolt + OC, try running Ryzen 3600 at 4425Mhz with a voltage around 1.225v.
You didn't say what voltage your friend used. If it's above 1.4V, maybe their CPU got damaged. I think I can handle 1.6V and it should be fine because I'm using a 45nm core, but newer chips usually have lower safe voltages as transistors get smaller.
As long as you stay below 1.3v manual, adjusting the frequency to 4000 or 4400Mhz per core doesn't matter much. From a temperature standpoint, I don’t notice it exceeding 80°C during gaming. You’re using a 240mm liquid pump.
