I'm still trying to understand this topic fully. Based on what I've learned, should the 2700x run with all core overclocking, PBO settings, or just keep it stock? I have a 4.1GHz 1.43V manual OC and some people suggest letting xfr2 handle things. I mainly use it for gaming with a stock cooler. Let me know if you need more clarity!

Getting a full boost across all cores is the fastest approach. In practice? Not really. PBO probably lets it adjust throttle and MHz when idle, while an all-core boost with good power settings keeps running at those speeds whenever needed.

PBO offers superior performance... Using an OC on Ryzen 3000 models isn't necessary!

My bios used PBO as the default, it ran at 4.125MHz but the readings were wild—between 1.45 and 1.5 volts. AMD says it’s fine, but I’d like something more consistent with a lower voltage.

Update your BIOS – the issue regarding overvoltage has been resolved through BIOS updates following the release of the new CPUs. That’s sufficient.

The BIOS was released alongside the 3000 CPUs, so it likely addressed them.

It comes from the initial release of the CPU, meaning the BIOS is likely delivering excessive power—this was a known problem at launch. All makers have since fixed it. You should update your BIOS.

I've tested several ASUS boards and they consistently run between 1.4 and 1.5v on average, even with the latest BIOS updates. My B450-F previously reached about 1.55v, but an update brought it down to 1.5v, staying within that range. The X470-i with the newest patch is currently at 1.47v. If the 2700x behaves similarly to a 3600 under stress, I usually see around 4.1 at 1.32-1.35v for maximum performance. Going above 1.4v is generally not advisable. Overclocking versus stock involves trade-offs—higher frequencies boost multicore performance but hurt single-core speed. It really depends on your workload; if you need consistent single-core results, locking in at 4.1 is a good choice. This also helps keep temperatures lower thanks to reduced voltage. The best approach is to benchmark at stock settings first and then adjust overclock accordingly. In my setup, keeping all cores at 4.1 gives me better stability and efficiency.

It seems Asus tends to boost the V-core significantly, especially with auto settings at 1.45 to 1.50. Running an all-core OC for 1.42 would likely yield better performance.
