OC Problems 8350
OC Problems 8350
Hey, I'm trying to push my CPU even further than it currently allows.
Current setup: AMD FX-8350 on Gigabyte 970A-D3P motherboard, H80i cooler, Corsair CX 750M PSU.
Stock OC is 4.0, I managed a steady 4.5 without changing the voltage.
For streaming performance would be ideal, so I'm aiming for a stable 4.7.
After reaching 4.7, I increased the voltage to 1.48V based on research suggesting it could stabilize.
But once I started streaming, my system would freeze or struggle.
I read that raising the voltage to around 1.5V might help with stability.
I've kept everything constant except lowering it back to 4.6, but still face issues during streams.
I've also experimented with OC using Bus Speed settings, and sometimes the PC wouldn't even POST.
I cleared CMOS and went back to 4.5, but it still feels off.
Anything I might be missing that could help achieve a reliable 4.7 OC?
Every CPU is unique. Your one might require varying voltage levels to reach the same clock speeds. It's conceivable that your motherboard has power delivery constraints. If that's the case, certain boards won't let you adjust the power output from the motherboard to the CPU. I increased the LLC to Extreme to boost the power supply.
What you're referring to is that your motherboard might be reaching its maximum power output. FX CPUs consume a lot of energy, and achieving a high overclock like 4.7ghz usually requires a costly motherboard.
What I mean is that your motherboard might be reaching its maximum power output. FX CPUs consume a lot of energy, and achieving a high overclock often requires a costly motherboard, especially at 4.7ghz. It seems I've reached the upper limit of stable OC.
