OC on a FX-4350
OC on a FX-4350
Hello dear Community,
I’m considering an overclock as I’m planning to upgrade my current setup.
Here are my details:
CPU: AMD FX-4350
Motherboard: GIGABYTE 970A-UD3P (rev.02)
Cooling: Corsair H55
GPU: GIGABYTE r9 280x OC 3GB Windforce edition
RAM: 2 x Corsair Vengeance 4GB DDR3
Power Supply: Corsair VS650
Assuming I’m playing games like CS:GO and PUBG, would this upgrade be beneficial?
My current frame rates are consistently above 144 FPS on a 144Hz monitor (around that level), and PUBG runs at roughly 60 to 80 FPS. Would an OC really boost performance noticeably in both titles?
If the answer is yes, I’d appreciate guidance on the overclocking process tailored to my rig.
Any additional advice or clarification you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Feel free to reach out with any questions or share screenshots.
Thanks in advance.
You can easily achieve a 4 core FX at 4.5 Ghz with that motherboard and cooler; performance increases further with higher voltage and better cooling. It might not noticeably affect frame rate, but it could be more affected by the video card at 144hz when using high resolutions or settings. There are many overclocking guides online—just search for them. You'll also need to learn your motherboard's BIOS settings.

Do you think your graphics card is restricting your experience? I prefer smooth gameplay, so I usually lower my graphics settings to low or very low. I'm using an ASUS vg248qe as my main monitor and also have a 24-inch 60Hz Samsung monitor at 1080p.
