OC i5 4670k BIOS configurations significantly impact performance.
Hi everyone,
I’ve heard that disabling certain power-saving features on an i5 4670K doesn’t really help much. Many guides agree with this, but during my tests I saw a clear improvement. I’m using my CPU at 4.3ghz on 1.236v. The settings I’m focusing on are:
CPU Enhanced halt(C1E)
C3 State Support
C6/C7 State Support
CPU EIST Function
If these options aren’t turned off in my BIOS, I’ll still see performance gains even if I raise the voltage to 1.26 and lower the clock speed to 4ghz.
Could you explain what these settings do and why they matter so much for my OC? I’m using a Gigabyte Z87-HD3 motherboard.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Hi everyone,
I heard that adjusting the power-saving features on an OC i5 4670K has little impact. Many guides suggest otherwise, but during my tests I saw a clear difference. I'm running the CPU at 4.3ghz with a voltage of 1.236v. The settings I'm referring to are: CPU Enhanced halt (C1E), C3 State Support, C6/C7 State Support, and CPU EIST Function. If these options aren't turned off in my BIOS, I'll still see performance improvements even if I increase the voltage to 1.26v and lower the clock speed to 4ghz. What exactly are these settings and why do they matter so much for my OC?
