Oc Genie
Oc Genie
I just assembled my first PC using a Ryzen 3100 and 1650 super. After configuring everything and reaching 1600 MHz with an infinity fabric setup (since I have 3200 MHz of 8x2 RAM), the OC Genie increased the CPU to 4.2 GHz. To note, the 3100 has a base clock of 3.6 and a boost clock of 3.9, giving a 300 MHz boost. Because it was running at a higher frequency with the boost clock and using the stock Wraith cooler, I felt concerned and turned it off. My concern is whether it's safe to use the OC Genie without any overclocking experience, since this is my dream PC I bought myself. I also play modern AAA games. Apologies for the unclear English—I'm not fluent in my native language.
I generally advise against using overclocking tools or software not made by the CPU manufacturer. The problem isn't that they often cause trouble, but rather that they can create issues and most people who try them don’t know how to fix them. If your 1650 S is performing well in games, there’s no need to make changes.
I haven't adjusted anything myself. According to the XMP settings, it operates at a faster clock speed—about 300MHz above the base rate or its maximum boost clock. Temperatures stay within a range of 44 to 47°C when idle and 56 to 64°C during use. Should I make any changes?
I usually see around 68 to 90 frames per second in current games, and with a 75Hz display, it doesn’t really affect me much. What I care about is keeping my PC secure and preventing any unexpected issues that could be costly.
