OC and gaming / stress test
Hi everyone, please accept my apologies for my English background.
My setup has a CPU clocked at 4.4 Ghz / 1.295V with air cooling.
During stress tests using realbench or AIDA64, temperatures climbed above 80°C quickly—definitely a concern.
However, when playing games like WoW, CS:GO, or Lords of the Fallen, the temperature never went past 60°C.
As a heavy gamer, can I safely use this configuration or higher for gameplay, even though benchmarks show extreme heat? I’ve already enabled active overheating protection at 75°C.
Thank you in advance for your advice.
My rig details:
CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 ACX 2.0
RAM: GIGABYTE GA-X99-UD4
Cooler: Be Quiet! Shadow Rock Slim (upgraded fans)
Source: CORSAIR CS650M
It's clear your game doesn't strain the processor as much as torture tests and benchmarks do. They're only used for identifying maximum limits and potential issues that appear when everything is fully loaded.
