OC Amd fx 6300
I checked other discussions on overclocking my CPU and achieved a 4.0 GHz boost on my current setup. I’m curious if I can go even further.
I’ve been running Prime 95 for about 12 hours with stable performance. My voltage is at 1.35, and the CPU reaches up to 46°C during load, while it stays around 19°C when idle.
Details:
- AMD FX 6300 stock (3.5 GHz)
- CryoH7 cooler
- 16 GB DDR3 from Corsair
- MSI GTX 960
- 600 watt EVGA power supply
- ASUS M5A78L-MUSB3 board
If I can improve my board, how much higher could the overclock be?
Based on the uncooled VRM, it wouldn't be a good idea to mention the voltage.

Based on the uncooled VRM's readings, I wouldn't suggest mentioning the voltage. I'm currently at 1.35, had a test at 1.4 before, and during stress tests the average CPU voltage stays around 60-65. With HWmonitor showing the CPU voltage maxing out near 1344, I think staying under 4.0ghz with 1.35V is safe.
CPU voltage might not be the problem. Check your VRMs and board sensors.
Justiceinacan suggests checking the VRMs and board sensors for the CPU voltage issue. They advise whether increasing the frequency to 100MHz until instability occurs, then lowering it back, or maintaining the current setting.
The image you're asking for isn't present or accessible anymore. Also, a 1 GHz frequency offers minimal improvement in performance. It's best to skip it.
