OC after Delid
Hi seniors, I have a 2-year-old i7 6700k that gets extremely hot, reaching 90°C under full load with p95 at 2.66 GHz. The cooling solution I tried was the h100i V2, which helped bring things down to around 4.6 GHz with a temperature below 65°C in full load for a few hours. I’m planning to try further overclocking to 4.8 GHz, but it only stays stable if I raise the voltage to 1.42V. My main question is whether it’s worth the risk or if I should stick with 4.7 GHz.
Here’s what my setup looks like:
Intel i7 6700k
Asrock z170 Extreme 6
Corsair LX DDR4 2666MHz x 2
Zotac GTX 1070 Amp Extreme Edition
Superflower Gold Series 650W
Corsair H100i V2
Thanks again for taking the time to read through...
The recommended maximum voltage for that CPU is 1.45v. The GPU handles most of the processing during gaming, so your focus is mainly on improving internet speed and CPU performance. Just a joke—just kidding! But if your CPU has a cooler, you should be okay at 4.8 as long as it stays cool.
