The card I own is an evga model, and the case emphasizes its excellent heatsink for overclocking. Many users suggest using an OC for the GPU to boost performance. My concerns start with whether the factory overclock has already limited safe temperatures. If not, I plan to use a specific game on the emulator. I currently run mk8 with 4 players and only barely reach full frame rate. Would pushing the temperature higher enough to achieve smooth gameplay in emulation be noticeable?

It's probable you've reached the emulator's boundaries, or perhaps your CPU lacks sufficient power. Regardless, you can optimize your overclocking by ensuring stability and adequate case ventilation. The heatsink and fan setup on the card should handle the heat well, provided you maintain good airflow. I suspect your GPU might be running close to 70°C, which is still within safe limits—just make sure air circulation is sufficient.

I saw on YouTube that someone with a 1070 and an i5, which isn't much more powerful than my xeon, can achieve 60fps without issues. Even at 4k on a Titan X. I think I'll need to keep an eye on my hardware while it runs to figure out what's really causing the throttle. Thanks for the tip. Good to know I should have some headroom. My case setup is pretty solid.
