Oc 7700k problems
I recently installed a new 7700k and am experiencing some problems. My motherboard is the Gigabyte Z170XP-SLI. Here’s what I’ve recorded so far from my iPhone notes:
- 1.35 4.6 “standard” STABLE temp G
- 1.365 4.8 “standard” UNSTABLE TempG
- 1.37 4.8 “standard” UNSTABLE temp g
- 1.375 4.8 “standard” unstable temp g
I’m running an Intel burn test. I know this test might not be the most accurate for stability, but it pushes temperatures higher than most, which is important for me. It has also consistently detected instability at around 23 seconds in the past. I’m wondering if that affects the results.
My CPU core loadline calibration and VAXG loadline calibration are both set to standard. That’s what the test shows. Any suggestions? I’ll pause the tests for now and keep working on this. I also don’t have much experience with OC anymore, except my basic 6700k, which was last tweaked when Haswell was released. Thanks in advance!
I decided to put them on standard because I’ve noticed it reduces heat output—maybe they shouldn’t be set to standard. That’s all I know about those settings.
The aim is to improve stability by changing the configurations or something similar.
are you adjusting the speed for specific applications such as encoding or gaming?
if it's for gaming, i don't suggest using the intel burn test because you won't be putting the CPU under heavy load during games.
it will be used for encoding, rendering, graphic design, office tasks, video games, and possibly virtual machines. Many at once.
what do you think about stress testing? I notice your unusual choice of the 8700
