I had to bring my motherboard to Evga for fixing or swapping because the USB 2.0 port was damaged. It was a Z170 model. I received a replacement board and now Windows 10 won’t activate—it’s been upgraded to a different model since Z170s are no longer available. They sent me a Z370 instead. After installing the new parts—processor, RAM, HDD, hot-swap, and SSD—I tried to turn it on but it’s deactivated. When I attempt activation, they say it can’t be done and Microsoft is closed. Should I worry about getting a new Windows 10 Pro key or will Microsoft try to reactivate my existing one with this new board?

Contact them to inform them about the failure, then replace the board. Usually they respond without issues and can get it back online for you.

You had to complete this task prior to modifying the motherboard. https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help...are-change Now it's too late—either purchase a fresh Windows version/license or reach out to Microsoft and request a new key. If they're having a great day, they may reactivate it for you.
