Hey there! I bought the DELL dock WD19S 180W for a particular purpose – linking my desktop PC to a USB-C dock so it could switch peripherals like a mouse, keyboard, sound card, Ethernet, external drive, and monitors. Unfortunately, the dock isn’t working with my Asrock Z390 Taichi motherboard because it lacks the right port type. It has a USB-C port, but it doesn’t support video over USB-C or DP Alt Mode. I’m wondering if I should look for a PCIe card that adds a USB-C port and works with DP Alt Mode, or maybe a Thunderbolt extender like the ones listed online. Alternatively, could I upgrade to a new motherboard with built-in Thunderbolt ports? Let me know what you think!
Essentially you're pretty much stuck. You should consider a Thunderbolt card with video support or an Alt Mode card, but even then it's unlikely to work since your board needs that feature too. Just grab a KVM instead of hoping any purchase will fit as Thunderbolt on desktops has always been a pretty basic setup.

The docking station you have is primarily for laptops, but it can also be used with a Dell dock if needed.
I'm really struggling to suggest any cards since it seems you'd have to roll a dice for success. This dock is just a well-known sponsor product, not particularly unique. What I can offer is a KVM. Your dock connects to it and your PC connects to it. But first, I need your precise monitor details and the number of devices linked.
