So a friend sparked my interest in game streaming. I already have a working stream, but I want to make it better. I'm playing on an AMD A10-6800K, slightly overclocked, with 24GB of GPU memory at 1866 MHz. Most games run smoothly at low or medium settings, maintaining around 30-60 FPS. However, once OBS starts, I notice a drop of 10-15 FPS. I’m considering using an older Radeon 6450 to offload the streaming tasks. It would be frustrating for gaming, but it could serve another purpose. Everyone I’ve heard about mentions Intel’s Quicksyn and Nvidia’s shadowplay, but I’m curious if this is even feasible on my setup before I explore further. My system is compact, so I’m limited in options.
The 5450 includes a decoding engine but lacks an encoding engine for AFAIK. You might consider AMD's Game Capture Raptr, which could work with minimal impact on your APU, though performance may vary. It supports streaming and capture, but I’m unsure if it’s enabled by default after installation. If you’re using the CPU for this purpose, I’d check its settings.
Sure, I understand. You're referring to an A10 processor and needing 22GB of memory.
There is no need for a Ummm... Generally, people are recommended 8GB, but depending on the task, he might need more, which is why he purchased additional storage.
RAM remains unused from a previous setup. The wife’s is already full at 16Gb (Windows 7), while I’m using 8.1, so just include it all here. Regarding the recording, I’ve tested it and still can’t get it to function on my machine. Either I’m broadcasting a solid green screen with audio, or my system crashes. (This happened right when I was writing this). I’ve attempted to turn off 'hardware decoding' in the player, following advice from Raptr, but it didn’t help. Not sure if the issue is related to an APU or something else.
