Observing unused RAM in Task Manager
The memory consumption in Task Manager reflects real RAM usage. The Processes section displays values in megabytes, whereas the Performance view presents them in gigabytes. No matter the unit, the figures remain consistent. One gigabyte equals 1024 megabytes.
This RAM consumption doesn't look like it exceeds 8 GB, even when considering background usage. The top programs using about 1 MB each would be around 200.
I understand your point. Physical memory includes not just process memory but also kernel, driver, and other areas. The Performance section displays overall system memory use, whereas the Processes section shows memory allocated specifically to running processes.
