The CPU temperature spikes often during FPU testing on Aida64. It appears less when PBO is disabled in BIOS. The AIDA64 FPU test seems to be the main culprit, suggesting an issue with that program. My motherboard is a B450i ROG Strix paired with a R7 2700X. There might have been a thermal paste application error, as indicated by a photo. My friend suggested the loop in this setup could create air bubbles, which might be contributing to the temperature fluctuations.

Consider reinstalling Aida64 and retrying the test. This may help determine if the issue was related to the initial setup. It seems less likely when PBO is turned off since the processor runs more efficiently and generates less heat.
