I power up the display yet it shakes while showing the ASUS brand, after that the entire screen turns dark and remains so. What might be causing this issue and what can be done to fix it?

It seems the system is activating during startup, which might indicate a driver problem or file corruption (based on the observed signs). You could check the BIOS settings to confirm GPU and boot drive recognition, then attempt a Windows boot in safe mode to test functionality.

It functions properly without starting Windows, adjusting the refresh rate to 120 Hz when I switch systems.

It seems like the screen could be the problem, so checking for a repair might be a good idea.

It seems you're likely correct. In my situation, the adapter might be the issue.
