An unusual scenario has arisen. My old monitor (Dell P2715Q) occasionally flickered, but recently it remained dark after my computer powered on after sleep—no shutdown involved. The graphics card is a Gigabyte GTX 3070 connected through an mDP cable. There’s no "no signal" alert; instead, there’s almost nothing detected, and the monitor ignores its buttons. When I press them while it claims no signal or when signal is present, it opens its menus normally—though nothing appears in the event viewer. The issue seems resolved by disconnecting and reconnecting the cable near the graphics card. After that, everything functions correctly, even when putting the PC to sleep. I’m expecting a new HDMI cable for testing tonight, but any feedback would be appreciated. For context: Aorus Master Z690 board, 64GB DDR5, 12700KF, Windows 11, EVGA 1000W PSU. Not a gamer setup; the GPU isn’t under strain during tasks. Thanks!

With Windows 11, it's likely HDR is automatically turned on. This isn't officially supported for your specific display, though it's still a possibility. Your monitor likely won't handle it properly based on the DP1.2 input. Even basic 'HDR capable' screens can struggle without enough contrast to activate HDR. You might want to review display settings to confirm if HDR was enabled. Also, check the Nvidia Control Panel for any forced color or video settings. Additionally, you could try forcing the display port version to DP 1.2, which may resolve the issue. The monitor might be set to auto and run at version 1.1. Other factors could be involved.

I have turned off fast startup a while back for another reason. My HDR isn’t working properly—either it’s not enabled or it doesn’t support it.

In the NVIDIA control panel, the default color options were active, so I adjusted them to these settings—I wasn't sure if it would matter.

I realized the issue is the low refresh rate—only 30Hz at 4K. It’s been a while, so I’m looking for a monitor that supports IPS or similar technology, offers excellent color accuracy, and isn’t too focused on gaming performance.

On HDMI, no signal after waking up. Did my GPU just crap its pants or is it the monitor?

Updated with the newest BIOS, yet still drawn to test another display.

It appears the problem was related to heat, likely from the monitor facing a large window on the 24th floor. Using the blinds effectively helped resolve the issue.
