Hello there! My monitor (AOC Q27G2U) has been acting odd lately. It often goes completely dark, even when it’s receiving input, and only displays something once every 100 uses. The issue seems to happen no matter whether I connect it via HDMI or DP. I’ve tried all the software fixes I could find, even switching to Linux to check if it was a Windows-specific problem. The screen is clearly detecting input but can’t show anything, and changing display settings like refresh rate or color mode makes it freeze instantly. I’m not an expert, but I guess it’s something serious—maybe a hardware fault? Thanks for helping me out!

The situation isn't much improved compared to what you described. Based on what I know and the signs present, the most probable cause seems to be a broken solder connection on the LCD control board or an unstable power supply from your monitor to it. It could also point to a failing capacitor or a loose joint. Unless you're ready to put in the time and effort to fix and test this, I think the display is likely beyond repair.

Keep in mind, this is just basic guesswork without deep expertise, and there might be a simpler fix I’m not aware of. This is purely speculative at this point.

The notion of a defective power source seems promising and would require minimal effort to verify. The standard wall outlet (type E) sent a shock when I attempted to connect/disconnect it, which could suggest an underlying issue.
