I assembled my computer two days back and everything worked smoothly until I noticed a problem with my GPU. I switched to an additional 8x PCIe cable and connected it from the PSU. Now the games are running slowly after just ten minutes, and performance drops further with longer play sessions. I reinstalled the drivers and temperatures are back to normal. My system specs include a 7800X3D Sapphire 7900X 2x16 RAM at 6000MHz, GSKILL RAMs, and Corsair 850RMX.

Consider reverting to a single cable connection. A suitable power supply like the RM850x works well, but it seems this adjustment wasn't the main reason for the problem.

Returning to a single cable resolved the problem. I’m really hoping using just one cable won’t harm the PSU.

The main concern about avoiding a single cable comes from low-quality power supplies that might damage the cable. I believe Tier A or B units have properly rated cables for their connector count. Corsair has reduced the number of connectors on their 12VHPWR cables to two, which can handle more power than four 8-pin PCIe connections. I've tested a 4090 adapter with four 8-pin connectors and it worked fine. Using just one cable for two 8-pin connections also functioned without problems.
