When I power up my PC from the mains after it was off overnight, I've noticed a loud popping sound coming from it. I believe this might be related to the PSU and I saw a small spark inside when it was turned on. This only happens when it's been off for a while, and I can't get it to happen if I turn it off for 15 minutes. Is this something I should worry about? My Corsair HX1000 is four years old. From other discussions I read, this could be connected to inrush current during capacitor charging, but I'm not sure why it didn't occur before.

The most challenging aspect for a PSU is the inrush current. What is the reason for turning off the mains?

It is linked to a multi-plug extension cable together with various items, and I switch it off at night to prevent them from using excess power.
