I aim to capture footage using OBS without live streaming. For lighter games I should handle recording smoothly without any visible frame drops. However, for more intense titles like GTA V, Division, or the latest releases, maintaining a stable frame rate is important. I expect noticeable drops in performance during those games, but I want my gameplay to remain acceptable. I’m looking for a balance—avoiding extreme quality loss while keeping things playable. Estimated frame requirements would likely fall around 30-40% of full resolution at lower settings.

The CPU usage indicates it should run smoothly in GPU-heavy titles, but for heavy CPU tasks there might be concerns.

Use OBS Studio for higher quality than the default version. Avoid frame drops by selecting a stable setup. Try Dxtory as an alternative if needed.

Both OBS Studio and OBS use identical x264 encoder libraries.

Maybe try capturing with shadow play? (or using instant replay... they renamed it)

OBS supports NVENC functionality similar to shadowplay, with minimal performance effect. Simply adjust the settings for optimal results.
