I own a Bose lifestyle v30 unit from the late 2000s, but it isn’t transmitting video to my TV. For comparison, my Hisense u8 has HDMI 2.1 and 2.0 ports, while my receiver only handles up to 1080p. I’m attempting to fine-tune settings manually, but the only way it works is via the pop-up menu the receiver sends to the TV. I have no trouble with audio over an optical cable, yet video remains elusive.

Do you have an HDMI monitor or an older model? It might be that the system settings are too basic, making it hard for Hisense to show the display. You might need a more recent screen. This issue isn't rare anymore.

I also have a slightly older television that I could test. I've looked up ways to reduce the resolution online, but it seems Hisense doesn't let you adjust the resolution in the settings.

Adjusting video quality from the main screen can help fix picture issues. If your TV doesn’t match the chosen resolution, change it via the system display. On the remote, press the Settings button. Make sure you’re not using AM/FM or CD/DVD sources while selecting a resolution. Continue scrolling until “Video Res:” shows up. Then select the desired option: 480/576p, 720p, 1080i, or 1080p.
