I require an additional internal USB port to monitor its voltages. I've connected two devices and need one more (power supply). I bought this hub and wanted to know how to connect it properly. Is there any chance the header could damage the motherboard? Since it uses a USB splitter through a single USB port on the motherboard.

Sure, connect the motherboard header to the white header on the hub, then link the hub to your device. For the black ports, ensure they match the hub’s configuration and power them accordingly.

Connect one end to the SATA port for power, then use one cable to attach it to the USB 2 header on your motherboard.

I connected some Corsair RGB and Commander Pro devices to it. My X370 Asus Crosshair VI Hero only has one USB 2 port, which made it essential for my setup.

I don't know how safe is this thing, since I'll hook up H100i and Thernaltake FAN Controller. Don't know if device shorts out it maybe can damage my pump on H100i or FAN controller. It's expensive, should be safe.
