NVMe SSDs featuring boot ROMs compatible with x79 motherboards
Hello, Are there any other NVMe's with bootroms that will work with x79? I've read multiple comments about the Samusung 850 pro's or Intel counterparts working easily, but 850s are expensive as hell and only have 1500 writes, no point going from a SATA to that. Wondering if there's anything else with at least 2000-3000 writes at least that can boot. This is a workstation and my applications will utilize NVMe, I already have a 2tb for storage via adapter. chip: 3930k mobo: GA x79 UD5 Thanks!
Check compatibility with your NVMe drive and plan for future builds. For the Clover bootloader and documentation, look up official sources or community forums related to your motherboard model.
Works with nearly any NVMe storage device. Clover can be downloaded from the provided GitHub link. For guidance, check out these resources: tutorials on refinishing older PCs and methods for booting NVMe without modifying your UEFI bios using Clover EFI bootloader.
You're planning to use a USB drive with FAT32 filesystem and GPT partitioning. To access NVMe storage, you may need to boot from it during installation rather than just once. The Clover tool is designed to stay installed, so you can download its image and use it for writing the ISO or USB image. The links provide downloads for Clover, Refind, and Rufus, which you can use depending on your operating system.
