NVME died?
NVME died?
Hello! Today I changed the ram on my XPS and I think my nvme died. I'm checking if there is anything else I should try. Here is what I have done: -removed cover, unplug battery and drain it by holding power. -changed ram -plug back battery and boot. New ram was detected in the bios but could not see my nvme anymore so I did this: -Put back old ram (who knows?) (no change) -Tried to put the nvme in another computer (not detected) -Put the nvme from that other computer into the laptop and it boots! (with the new memory too) Is anything else I should try or just call it and order a new one? (warranty is over since 2021)
The NVMe SSD remains active in the BIOS, but it's possible the RAM altered some of the system settings.
I chose to swap it out because this model lacked DRAM cache, making it a solid upgrade.
