In Overwatch I can adjust my display settings to 5960x1080 at 144p, but when playing it actually shows up as 1920x1080 on my main monitor while the other two stay dark. Even though the game runs smoothly at over 200 fps on ultra settings, I prefer around 100 fps with all monitors active. I’ve heard this is because of a field-of-view issue that was fixed during the beta, but UWSGF claims it’s confirmed for triple monitors. They said they limited the FOV to prevent an edge advantage for players using ultra wide or surround configurations. It seems they wanted to ensure fairness, just like lower latency, higher frame rates, or mouse shortcuts give benefits. Why not let everyone enjoy full surround support? Anyone figured out a workaround?

Because it's a blizzard title, finding a workaround will be challenging. Developers check game files before release, so modifications are either fixed or the game won<|pad|> can’t launch. There’s a big discussion on overwatch forums about 21:9 support; if it’s added, multi-monitor compatibility might come later. Just a note—they haven’t released a 21:9 version for Diablo 3 yet, so don’t count on it.

It was just about to mention that it's a Blizzard game.

They might address the 21:9 issue, though I’m skeptical about multi-monitor setups. Many users already use 21:9, which has captured some share of the multi-monitor market. The discussion thread is now well over ten pages long.

it functions perfectly on one of my screens but the main issue is I'm always playing in windowed mode because I have three monitors. it prevents me from stretching the whole game to fill the entire screen, so it only shows about 80% of each monitor. that's disappointing, but at least it reaches the maximum resolution. i believe d3 and SC2 both cap at 1080p, which I can confirm by seeing sc doing it too—having three monitors would provide a significant edge.

It's a tough day for those of us who play triple and UWS. We were excited about the event, especially since DOOM supports triple monitors—though it has some odd distortion in certain details. I'm just waiting and seeing, no big changes expected. Notably, even though 21:9 wasn't available, it worked on my UWS at 2560x1080 without black bars, though the field of view still felt compressed.

My monitor adjusts the 1080p picture to fit its screen. You can change this in the monitor settings to show the image without distortion.

21:9 isn't available in many competitive titles. It could provide an edge over players using regular 16:9 displays. I believe this might shift as UWS gains more traction, though I doubt it will become common in Overwatch's lifespan.
