Kind of curious what people around here would think of trying to set up an Nvidia Jetson unit as a general use desktop. Obviously this is both fairly insane and not exactly price efficient, but I mean, as an enthusiast of small hardware with weird amounts of power, I think it's a fun idea. I probably couldn't be asked to drop 200$USD on it myself, but am kind of curious if anyone else has more enthusiast balls than I do. Amazon link to the unit: http://www.amazon.com/NVIDIA-Jetson-TK1-...B00L7AWOEC What OS would you guys think about running on it, Arch, Android etc? Or maybe if not for a desktop, what other practical use could you find for it?
We utilized this board in our bachelor thesis. It ran smoothly on Linux, mainly for programming and light browsing. We also developed drivers to interact with a custom module. Unfortunately, the documentation was very poor, and support from Nvidia was minimal. The driver source code they provided lacked comments, and there was no accompanying documentation. We successfully met the requirements, but working with it was quite frustrating. For everyday tasks, consider an ITEL NUC; otherwise, opt for an ITX or MATX system.
