I'm feeling quite let down with Nvidia's 900 series. Maybe I'll opt for the 3,780Tis instead of the 3,970.

A further reason to dislike Nvidia is their MOVE ALONG approach.

This seems confusing, many people argue the 970 should have 4GB of VRAM but it only has 3.5GB instead, so they opt for GPUs with 3GB. It’s unrelated to the 970 specs.

6GB STRiX 780(Ti)s are available at a lower price compared to the 3GB model in my store.

You've only managed to overclock a laptop GPU a few times, mostly on rare chances. Most average laptops lack the cooling power to handle an overclocked chip, and they really struggle with stock chips.

I’m not planning to buy AMD. I’ve tested a lot of cards—7970, 7950, 270,265,285, even the 4870X2. If they didn’t fail, they’d overheat, drivers would crash, and so on.

It's not about that; it's Nvidia repeatedly limiting their offerings. Why shouldn't we have the freedom to push our laptops to higher speeds?

You chose stock cards since aftermarket AMD ones don't overheat. Stock cards are worse.

I think you're right about more than just Nvidia's choice—it might be another big brand that doesn't care about the damage they cause to high-end gear.
