Someone could assist with stopping nouveau. I added it to the blacklist file, but the driver installer still shows it as active. I faced issues with the wi x server, though I resolved them.

Did you set up the NVIDIA drivers first? Which distribution are you running? How do you plan to install them?

It's a .run file on Ubuntu. No matter the latest release, I'm not here.

Avoid setting that up. Try the alternative repository here: https://launchpad.net/~graphics-drivers/...ubuntu/ppa

It depends on the configuration. Make sure you adjust settings for your GTX 950 and consider whitelisting items you previously blocked.

According to Nvidia's site, you can obtain the drivers directly from their website and compile them yourself.

The repository includes the most recent drivers and some older versions too. It should function with any GTX graphics card. Restore your system to its original state before making changes. Refer to the instructions on that page for adding the PPA (repository). Open the Software & Updates app, click on Additional Drivers, choose the newest NVIDIA driver (NVIDIA binary driver - version 378.13 from nvidia-378), and then click Apply Changes.
