I don’t fully understand my current situation. I’ve installed Nvidia drivers via akmod-nvidia. A suggestion came up to install xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-cuda, but after a DNF update, nvidia-smi still reported errors and strange messages. The nvidia-settings tool only displayed two options and lacked a proper GPU section. It also showed the same “NVIDIA driver is not loaded” error during startup on my Fedora Acer Predator Helios 300 2021, especially when trying to run Minecraft on the F3 display. I expected an RTX 3060 with OptiFine performance, but it wasn’t showing up as expected.

Follow the required setup instructions for your distribution. The NVIDIA module failed to load properly, and the generic driver was omitted. Verify your distribution’s display server settings (x.org or Wayland). If your laptop doesn’t enter a blank screen, the Intel driver is correctly installed and wasn’t excluded. Make sure your distribution has commands to switch between Intel and NVIDIA drivers as needed.

Fedora is not the very best choice for nvidia cards. I can usually get the Nvidia drivers to work faster and more stable on FreeBSD than on Fedora. FreeBSD uses a Linux emulation layer for this. Not that it works badly on Fedora per se but smooth installation of Nvidia drivers has never been their forte and the Fedora developers deeply hate Nvidia which doesn't help the situation either. The systems I would recommend for Nvidia: Nobara Project, Void Linux, Artix Linux, EndeavourOS, Manjaro Linux, openSUSE Tumbleweed If you have skills, NixOS is also an incredible Linux system.
