I own an ACER Gateway laptop NV55c. I looked up the recommended RAM size online, usually seeing 8 GB, but checking via CMD with WMIC shows a maximum of 16 GB. I need to verify which value applies so I can upgrade to the full capacity.

It seems your system has an Intel i5 M480 processor and is recognized as an AMD Ryzen. The maximum memory shown in CMD might be limited due to default settings or driver configurations. Check the system properties or BIOS options to adjust the supported RAM capacity.

The motherboard accommodates up to 16 GB of RAM, while the Intel Core i5-480m only handles 8 GB. Exceeding this limit will cause blue screens when starting up. I haven't used 8 GB DIMMs before, but I'd steer clear of them as well.
