I recently assembled my initial PC around three months back. It performed adequately during the first test, but things have begun to shift lately. About a month ago, plug-and-play functionality ceased: I now need to manually install drivers via Device Manager for every device connected. Each time it was unplugged, the process had to repeat. At first, I thought it was just an annoyance, but it’s not affecting my system significantly. Recently, however, my PC repeatedly attempts to install a Windows update upon power-off, and each try ends in failure. The error code 0x800703e3 appears consistently, though I couldn’t locate a clear explanation online beyond a rare problem with certain HP models. After this, I opted to proceed without further troubleshooting, assuming the updates weren’t essential. But the situation worsened: I can no longer install any drivers for anything. Most USB peripherals stop working, and it’s particularly frustrating when trying to activate DS4Windows or using integrated graphics due to missing drivers. Whenever I attempt manual driver installation, the registry errors appear. It seems a bit connected—somewhere I read that the update error code matches the driver issue. Unrelated, my 3-month-old Seagate 4TB HDD failed about a week ago. Could that have contributed? I’m not sure. At first it looked like a software glitch, but now I suspect the drive itself may be dead. All in all, tonight I tried resetting my PC using Windows Recovery, but that also didn’t succeed, mirroring the update failure. These problems are growing increasingly irritating, and I’m struggling to find anyone else experiencing the same driver-related difficulties. If I have to reinstall Windows and risk losing more data, I’m at a loss. What options do you think I should consider?

It looks like you've turned off certain features or adjusted configurations that are causing issues. Are you using a tool for tuning the system? Did you modify anything in Gpedit? It seems like there might be a single issue affecting everything.

I agree that it seems to be one problem, but as far as I know I haven't done anything like that. All I can think of is that I remapped appdata, documents, downloads etc to a location on my D drive that died.
