NTFS issues are disrupting your PC's performance.
Hi there, I’m back trying to figure out why my WD2TB keeps disconnecting. I’ve rewired the cables and checked the power, but now I’m seeing BSODs with error messages about NTFS. The crashes happen quickly and prevent me from viewing the actual logs. I’m worried my storage controller on my Gigabyte B450 might be failing. When I assembled the PC around mid-2020, it was a used B450 DS3H with an R7 2700 CPU, 1050 Ti RAM, and 32GB of memory. It ran smoothly until I upgraded the CPU to an R7 2700. Everything worked until the temp sensor stopped functioning, so I disabled it with Ryzen Master and it stabilized. Then I added my new WD2TB, formatted the drive, and moved my games and files. Now it randomly crashes or disconnects, causing BSODs. I can’t get the dump files because Windows blocks access. Should I replace the motherboard instead, or is there another fix? Thanks for any advice.

this was my initial attempt, i also wiped the disks and ran a sector scan. The only other idea I have is swapping the motherboard and case and isolating the drives.
It could be an issue with your hard drive, not the motherboard. Try this link for guidance: https://www.makeuseof.com/windows-10-ntf...error-fix/
I would assess your storage condition and identify any issues by examining the SMART data. On Windows, use CrystalDiskInfo to verify drive stability. If problems persist, consider installing Ubuntu on a USB drive, booting from it with the option to install without a full setup, and then access the Disks utility to review SMART information.
