I purchased a Wi-Fi card for my 5-year-old HP Pavilion and inserted it into the 16x slot. After launching Windows, the card wasn't detected. I attempted to install drivers but the installer suggested using the network card in the system. I suspect the PCI slot might be restricted by HP's software. Please help me get online school on Thursday—don’t judge me for my bad English; it’s not my fault, I’m from Sweden.

I purchased an ASUS PCE-AC56 but don’t own a laptop. It’s a prebuilt desktop from the HP Pavilion Power 580-000 series. Appreciate your help—I’m really grateful.

Consider using a PCIe x1 slot rather than x16 when the motherboard supports it

Hello, sorry about the error with the laptop. I thought it was an HP Pavilion but it wasn't. As @CustomEnchants suggested, try inserting the card into the PCIe x1 slot using this guide. If that fails, you can find a proper diagram showing a dedicated M.2 WLAN slot (key A) for your wireless card here: https://www.amazon.se/WISE-TIGER-AX210NG...2Caps%2C76. Note that if you follow this path, you might need to buy antennas if they aren't included.

Thanks! I'll give it a shot once I'm back home from school.

It often surprises me how many individuals who speak English as a second language admit to having "poor" English skills, yet they perform much better than typical Americans.
