Hello everyone.
I gave my rig to my son after building my new setup.
Current rig: gigabyte x670e pro x
7800x3d
7800xt
32gb DDR5
850 PSU
Previous board had an optical audio connection. I used it with my sony receiver and a surround sound setup on my PC.
After investing a lot for the new board, the pro x....it doesn’t have an optical connection.
I found a suggestion online to connect via HDMI, but I have four screens using my GPU connections—two HDMI and two DP.
Can I connect it to the MOBO HDMI? Will that work?
Sony STR DN-840.
Any other suggestions? THX

Not emphasizing it's the top choice, but it's a viable alternative. The post I shared illustrates how numerous options and models exist.

Functional setup complete. One end connects to the Sony, the other to the MBO HDMI.

You might purchase a separate sound card with optical connectivity.
