I understand the PerfPer wat drops near the 120W point for the 5600x/5800x model. I’m curious about how the 5800XD performs and think the added cache might intensify thermal issues.

The current reading matches the high-temperature warning from the white papers. When a stock system reaches its core temperature, the CPU fan runs at full capacity. One major concern with their "light load" boost strategies is that the fans become excessively noisy. This relates to XFR or extended clock speed techniques. These are meant for single-core boost scenarios and usually represent the highest advertised frequency. However, they actually increase the temperature difference during boost periods consistently. The solution is to reduce CPU speed and lower voltage. It's frustrating when people complain their setup is too loud.

since 70c is too low for high temperatures, 95c is the upper limit allowed for operation

I’ve set my case fans to 80% or 2500 revolutions per minute. Most folks might not like it, but I’m fine with it. The picture frames on the wall by the window sway softly in the wind.
