I just bought a Razer Blade from late 2016 paired with a GTX 1060. This is my first gaming laptop, so I have some questions for others who have already boosted their GPU's performance.

1. What’s the best way to improve performance by overclocking the GPU?
2. Should I risk damaging my GPU in pursuit of higher performance? This laptop wasn’t expensive.

I’m using CAM as my monitor and it seems to be running Battlefield 1 Ultra at 1800 MHz or higher (clock speed) at temperatures around 74 to 76°C. However, I’m a bit let down by the frame rates—usually around 50, sometimes dropping to 40–45. The ad claimed the GTX 1060 could run at 80 FPS without issues, but I’m not sure if that’s accurate for other brands.

My laptop specs:
- Screen resolution: 1920x1080
- CPU: Skylake I7 6700 HQ
- 16 GB RAM
- GTX 1060 with 6 GB VRAM
- 512 GB SSD PCIe

I wouldn't use a razer blade. Those items lack the necessary cooling capacity to adequately chill your GPU.
Still, you might try raising the power and temperature limits, which could allow GPU Boost 3 to push your GPU's performance further.

In the notebook the cooling performance is significantly weaker, making OC more taxing for your GPU. It doesn't mean you should avoid OC, but if you do, monitor your temperatures closely. In reality, it might only slightly affect performance, perhaps just a couple of frames per second. The safest approach would be to reduce certain settings such as shadow detail and other resource-heavy options. This will help maintain more frames while minimizing visual impact.
