Following the most recent Windows update that caused my system to hang, I had to format and reinstall Windows 10. After installing via an external USB drive and applying all updates, I’m experiencing a persistent (every few seconds) 3-note reconnection sound. It’s really bothersome! I tried removing all external USB devices and dongles, but the problem remains. I also went into Settings > USB and turned off the notification for connection issues. There are no desktop alerts, only the sound. I checked the Microsoft website and attempted a clean reboot, but the issue persists. This has never happened before, and my PC has functioned well for several years. I only changed the old C drive partition and performed a clean install. Maybe it’s hardware-related, but why after just a software update? Please help!

Update your post with complete hardware details and operating system information. Provide the power supply specifications, including make, model, wattage, age, and condition (original, build, refurbished, used). List all connected peripherals. Specify whether the network connection is wired or wireless. Check the Reliability History/Monitor and Event Viewer for any logged errors, warnings, or events around the reconnection time. Use Device Manager to inspect installed devices and focus on any flagged items. When relevant, note the Events tab and search for devices with extensive action logs.
