I’m trying to grasp the details of the Asus Z490-E. The 12V 8-pin and the 4-pin connections are confusing me. I already wrote a detailed thread on this issue, but before posting, I realized the motherboard manual might have been printed incorrectly. When I compared it with the PDF version I received, everything seemed off. In my manual, pin (A) was flipped—GND at the top and +12V at the bottom. The manual now shows them reversed.
I’m worried because the CPU power cables I got are 4+4, so flipping the pins could damage the board. It turns out the manual was corrected. Regarding the PSU cable image, the left side differs from what I saw in the manual. The right half matches, but the left has only four U-shapes instead of the square ones shown. The cable is designed to fit one side only, yet it seems to accommodate both sides. I’m unsure if this is normal or if there’s another explanation.
Insert it correctly as designed, since ATX connectors are uniform across every power supply and motherboard.
