I am in the market for buying 2 x 16 gbs of DDR5 ram. The faster (for gaming), the better. I have found what I perceive to be the fastest kit at that configuration. G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 7200 (PC5 57600) Desktop Memory Model F5-7200J3445G16GX2-TZ5RK https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb/p/N8...RyP_QD1dgA Yet there's a more expensive kit for that same configuration with a lower speed. CORSAIR Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6600 (PC5 52800) Desktop Memory Model CMT32GX5M2X6600C32 https://www.newegg.com/corsair-32gb/p/N8...kYz0ZaEMjw That's a $100 price difference. Granted the G.Skill model is on sale. Why isn't the GSkill model more expensive than the CORSAIR model? It can't be the 32 vs 34 CAS latency. Is it? What am I missing? What should I be looking for in DDR5 pricing?

It's a top-tier platinum piece. Many people favor the look, but it doesn't align with my taste. The same applies to Trident z royal—likely a poor use of $300. The 7200 price tag seems excessive and could be reached more simply through smaller adjustments.

This concern applies beyond DDR5; even DDR4 experiences similar problems. The appearance changes often reflect higher-end designs, which tend to be pricier.

The G.Skill is not worth the extra cost.

They’re both really bad deals. Grab something like the 5600c30 around $200 and the 7200 which is essentially the max you’ll find with Hynix M Die chips. The tighter timing ranges are almost certain to be Hynix M Die parts, even slower ones like 5600 and 7200 die won’t drop much in price for a while—especially since even basic PCBs for 5600c42 are still over $100. Don’t bother chasing them. If you don’t have a board such as the Z6/790 dark or Unify X, you won’t get much value either, because the die won’t be worth it anymore anyway. IMC is also hitting a ceiling around 8500 due to speed limits, so it’s unlikely to improve soon.
