Not sufficient pins for RXT 3060
Not sufficient pins for RXT 3060
I just got a msi rtx 3060, but after plugging it in i realised that it required both 8 pins and 6 pins from the psu. I have a coolermaster 500w v3 power supply and according to the website there are 2 6+2 pcie pin connectors but i can only find one. There is only one more 4+4 pin connector, but im using 4 of the pins for the cpu and cant use the other 4 for anything else. There are also peripheral 4 pin connectors which are not used for anything. Should I trade in my gpu for one with less pins or is there something else that i could do? And where is the other 6+2 cable?
With this power supply, it mentions there are two 6+2 PCIe connectors. Both should be connected via the same cable, meaning you can't ignore one without seeing the other.
Could you upload a photo of your PSU with the cables attached? Share it on imgur.com and then send it here.
Please avoid using any additional cables for the GPU—only use the PCIe cables marked as 6+2 pin, and don’t use adapters or extra cables.
The 4+4 EPS connector is intended to power the CPU, not the GPU.
I just noticed my Elite P500 V3 PSU only has one 6+2 pin connector. I think I might need to downgrade to a different GPU. Can there be any way to make use of the rectangular connector with four circles inside? Sorry, I’m not sure what it is and how to figure it out on imgur.com.
You were correct, the P500 v3 provides a lot of information. Thank you
Choose a GPU with just one 6+2 PCIe connector or opt for a stronger power supply that includes two PCIe connectors.
The MOLEX connector, featuring four circles inside, supplies power to low-power PC components such as fans, fan hubs, RGB hubs, etc.
Using it to power adapters like a MOLEX to 6+2 PCIe connector is not advised because it won’t provide sufficient power and could pose a fire risk.
It would be better to choose a PSU that works well rather than downgrading the GPU to something that only functions on poor-quality power supplies. A 1050 Ti or 1650 is perfectly reasonable for such a low-grade PSU. This isn't even a genuine *400*W PSU in any practical sense.
