Not stable? overclock
Not stable? overclock
HI.
Overclocked my i5 6600k to 4.5GHz. Run all the tests after, looks stable.
Problem is when I'm turn my computer on.
Black screen with cursor blinking, always, just that, black screen with cursor blinking.
I then need to RESET my computer and then loads up Windows no problem?!
Check CPU-Z and 4.5GHz is running, weird.
Any idea whats going on?
Like I said, cold start, black screen with blinking cursor, then reset and works fine... every, signle time...
Is it overclock fault?
when you reset the bios/uefi the system will recognize all the hardware, which is possible. however, it seems like there might be an issue with the bios/eufi preventing it from detecting the drives. this could happen if the bad oc is interfering with the eufi/bios in finding other hardware, and resetting usually fixes it. try lowering the ram to default and see if that helps. if not, turn off the oc completely. it’s essentially a process of elimination.
The average temperatures you're achieving are consistent, and your voltage remains steady. Usually, I run the overclock stress test for more than 12 hours to ensure stability. You can use Prime 95, though other options also work well.
Used Prime95 without issues, temperatures remained stable.
Turning off the computer, then restarting, it displayed a black screen with no cursor until reset—unusual.
Voltage and stock readings stayed within normal limits, max temperature reaching 82°C during testing.
