You've just completed a dual socket Intel setup but aren't seeing the expected performance gains for your FEA tasks. Running vtune suggests memory latency could be the issue. Installing DDR5 might help, as it typically offers reduced latency compared to older CPU memory types. Let me know if you'd like more details!

DDR5 compared to previous standards. What type of RAM are you using now? Are you open to replacing the motherboard and CPU to make room for the new RAM?

I thought Xeon scalables included some slower built-in memory, but Google appears to be missing this info. It's hard to tell exactly what the questioner means. It seems a few Xeon scalables have HBM2e integrated. Updated January 17, 2025 by thekingofmonks

I’m confused about the RAM type you’re using. The images don’t show any, and you mentioned only DDR5 RDIMMs are allowed.

It's unclear how you'll transition to DDR5 since current motherboards aren't designed for cross-gen compatibility.

What processors are you using now? For better speed, consider options like the 9950x3d or a high-performance multi-threaded CPU.

Emerald Rapids go Brrrrrrrrrr They exist for skylake, but they are uncommon and also why would you do that.

These are Xeon 9480 processors powered by 64GB of onboard HBM memory.

Sapphire Rapids sounds really powerful—two 13K CPUs in one build! It looks like this might belong to a tech discussion focused on high-performance setups.
