Not possible to surpass 2600MHz for RAM beyond that speed
I recently assembled a PC with a 5960x processor, an ASUS Rampage V EDITION 10, and two 8GB GSKILL 3200MHz RAM sticks. When attempting to push the RAM to 3200MHz via XMP, the system fails to boot and requires a BIOS reset. This issue also occurs when using the ASUS overclock presets or manually setting the RAM to 3200MHz while leaving other settings in auto. I've experimented with raising the voltage, but it hasn't resolved the problem and remains the only adjustment I'm willing to make due to limited experience. I own the same RAM in another Sky Lake machine with a nearly identical board, where XMP functions perfectly, so I’m unsure what’s happening here. Additionally, I’ve managed to get the RAM running at 2600MHz from its base of 2133MHz by adjusting the speed manually, but anything above that and the system won’t start. I’m hoping you can help achieve a stable 3200MHz operation.
Certainly! Here is your updated message:
Yes, I just made the changes.
It might seem like a small adjustment is needed, but you won't notice much change in performance. For more details, see the article here: https://www.anandtech.com/show/8959/ddr4...-crucial/4
