I made a funny error installing W10 on a Samsung NVME M2 drive with an Asrock MB board. I removed the partition and tried to install, but it seems the drive didn’t show up at all in the Windows setup. The Win 8 installer didn’t recognize the M2 storage. This didn’t happen before when I used it on another board. Got any suggestions?

Is the system able to start Windows? Yes, you can format the installation drive and reinstall the OS.

It works when starting in Windows 10, but it won’t start automatically. I attempted to install Windows 8 inside 10 via setup, but it stalled near the 55% completion point. I’ll try again now.

I don't get why you want to install WIndows 8 first. Just install Windows 10. If Windows doesn't see your drive, it mean that Windows failed to interact with the M.2 controller (or SATA controller for SATA drives). This happens because it doesn't have the drivers. Insert a USB Flash drive or disk that contains the drive, and in the Windows setup, select "Load Driver", browse where you put the drivers files, and select the *.INF file. Note that Windows is not installed at this stage, and can't run .exe's, nor open .zip files. The drivers needs to be extracted beforehand. *.INF file is a script file for Windows which tells Windows all about the driver installation, and installs and loads the drivers.

Great, your system starts up smoothly in Windows 10! What seems to be the issue?

Was die Hauptplatine gewechselt?

It was indeed correct. I've already reached out to MS's technical support, but they insisted I buy a new license since my Windows 8 key isn't valid in this case.

They're accurate. OEM licenses can't be transferred. Just the retail box of Windows is available. That's why you end up paying less.
