Not possible to run i7-3770K beyond 4.5GHz
Hey All,
I'm facing a strange problem when overclocking my i7-3770k on an Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe. I can reach the CPU Ratio of 45 without any stability problems. Going higher than that doesn't seem to help—Task Manager still shows the processor at 4.5, and HWMonitor does the same. I've tried a 47 multiplier and it still behaves the same. Am I missing something in my BIOS? My voltage is set to manual at 1.35, and I plan to lower it once I hit the desired clock speed.

Try resetting the OC back to factory settings, then reapply your 4.7GHz settings and voltage from stock speeds. I remember this approach worked for select Ivy Bridge CPUs; I used it before...
Hey All,
I'm facing an unusual problem when overclocking my i7-3770k on an Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe. I can reach a CPU Ratio of 45 without any stability problems. Going beyond that doesn't seem to help—Task Manager still shows the processor at 4.5, and HWMonitor does the same. I've tried a 47 multiplier, but the effect remains the same. Try resetting the OC back to factory settings, then reapply your 4.7GHz settings and voltage from stock levels. I remember this approach worked for my 2700k. If it still displays as 4.5GHz, it might be a voltage issue or you may need to reach out to Intel for assistance. Do you have the latest BIOS on your motherboard?
