Hi, I managed to get a 5900x + Gigabyte Aorus Elite X570 combo on Newegg recently. However, I'm facing issues resetting my memory overclock with the same memory package. I'm using the latest Gigabyte BIOS. My previous setup was a Ryzen 5 3600 with an MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus board, running G.skill Ripjaws V 3000mhz CL15 16 16 35. That configuration worked well for over eight months before I upgraded to a higher clock speed and voltage. Since then, I haven't been able to reach similar performance with the new BIOS. Is this typical? Or am I missing something? To be honest, I've never used a Gigabyte motherboard before, so the BIOS is still unfamiliar for me. It seems like it should be quite simple, given the newer CPU and motherboard specs.
It was what I feared. Seems like I’ll need to purchase another RAM module too. The situation has gone out of hand from my initial goal of spending $300 on a 5600x...
It's possible you just had bad luck with your IMC compared to your CPU before. With the IMC, success depends on a bit of luck too—you usually need to be lucky to get a solid overclocker setup. Still, I didn’t run into any issues with the same memory OC settings on both my 3700X and 5600X.
It looks like a solid build. The CPU performs well with a steady single-core boost of 4.94GHz, and I've noticed peaks reaching up to 5.09GHz a few times. Scores around 8850 in CB R20 are typical. It's getting hot, so I'm experimenting with lower-than-recommended voltages now.
